A large and hefty Cutting Board crafted from chunky Tasmanian Oak, carved with the design of Three Trees then inset with end grain cut Rose Gum.
The end grain slices are individually shaped and adhered to the host timber, then enveloped a quality epoxy resin resulting in a solid eye-catching Board that could serve multiple uses.
Handcrafted in our Bonbeach workshop from the following Timber:
Host Timber - Tasmanian Oak - A premium Australian hardwood timber encompassing three species that grow in the mountainous areas of Tasmania. Light in colour, with varying tones from straw to reddish brown, cream and pink.
Upper Layer - End grain cut slices of numerous different timbers including, Macadamia, Mulga, Cypress, Rose Gum, Huon Pine, Sassafras, Spotted Gum, and Blackwood.
I have individually shaped each piece of timber, then adhered them to the Host timber and the upper layer is then enveloped in a high-quality clear epoxy resin to create a solid and resilient Board, highlighting the natural colouring and graining of the selected timbers.
Next, I “surface” the board a millimetre at a time until it is flat and even and then the sanding process begins, using ever finer grades of sandpaper usually starting at 80 grit and finishing at 240 grit, when the Board is smooth and clean to the touch.
Finally I apply two coats of Fiddes Hard Wax Oil, [the fun part, where all the colours pop!] a blend of natural oils and waxes offering exceptional durability, which, when cured, protects your board with a Food Safe finish and it’s ready to go to your home.

Finish: Every Bonnie Timber Board is repeatably fine sanded in between coats of a high quality, food safe, hard wax oil, then finally hand sanded with extremely fine sandpaper and hand buffed with our wood butter, a small can of which is included with the Board you purchase.
