Unusual Cheese Board Handcrafted from Huon Pine in a "Fish" Shape.
This Lovely Cheese Board crafted from stunning Huon Pine into the shape of a Fish. This piece of Huon Pine had been discarded because it had a medium sized knot hole and a split toward the end of the piece of Timber. Huon Pine is to precious to waste so I cleaned the knot hole out and filled it clear Epoxy Resin and then shaped the Board like a Fish to remove the split.
As a Cheese Board the "Tail"" of this Board makes it very comfortable to carry. It certainly Eye-Catching and deserves a comfortable new Home.
Timber Details:
Body Timber - Tasmanian Huon Pine - (Lagarostrobos franklinii) – Australia's oldest living tree and one of the oldest on earth, growing only in the South West Tasmania where individual trees have been known to reach an age of 3,000 years.
The rich creamy yellow wood is soft, durable, smooth, oily and light weight. Probably the most durable of Australian timbers due to the presence of the essential oil, methyl eugenol, which gives Huon pine its unique preservative and anti-bacterial qualities.
Dimensions: 410 mm long x 230 mm wide x 30 mm thick.
Weight: Approximately 1.4 Kilos
Finish: Every Bonnie Timber Board is repeatably fine sanded in between coats of a high quality, food safe, hard wax oil, then finally hand sanded with extremely fine sandpaper and hand buffed with our wood butter, a small can of which is included with the Board you purchase.
Please note: Each Bonnie Timber Board is a one of a kind. Wood is a natural material and may have knots or grain variations that are not depicted. These variances should not be viewed as imperfections, but as qualities that make each piece unique.
