I've enjoyed crafted this rather unique piece of wall art,
The inspiration came from my many wanders along the banks of Sailors Creek up near Hepburn Springs which was an important gold mining area during the 1860's gold rush, and many remnants of the activity of that time can still be seen in the bush surrounding Sailors Creek.
I often watched the crystal-clear water flowing over the many different coloured rocks of all shapes and sizes and thought that I could craft a similar effect using the beautiful natural colours and graining of end grain cut wood.
Proudly Designed and Handcrafted in our small Bonbeach workshop.
Size: Length 73.5 cm - Width 30.5 cm x Thickness 3.8 cm
Weight: 4.12 Kilo's
Base Timber: Mountain Ash
Insert Timbers: Numerous end grain cut dowel pieces of various timber species including but limited to : Purple Heart, Conkerberry, Redgum, Mulberry, Rose Gum, Blackwood, Huon Pine, American Oak and Black Heart Sassafras.
Structure: All the separate end grain cut dowel pieces have been enveloped in a quality clear epoxy resin resulting in a solid Artwork.
Frame: The Triptych has been professionally mounted and framed in White Oak ready for hanging. I would suggest using two picture hangers say 30 cm apart so that the piece is balanced to a level position easily.
Number of Separate Wood Pieces: Approximately: 368 separate pieces of wood
Time to complete: Approximately 7.8 Hours
The Triptych panels have been surfaced and fine sanded, then finished with two coats of quality Fiddes Hard Wax Oil. Finally, the Board is polished with our Wood Butter, a can of which is included with your Board purchase.
Please note: Each Bonnie Timber Board is a one of a kind crafted from wood that is a natural material and may have knots or grain variations. These variances should not be viewed as imperfections, but as characters that make each piece unique.
