Wood Art - Wall Hanging - "Ochre Horizon"

The inspiration for this one just sort of came out of my hands one cold morning in the workshop bringing together the natural colour and graining from woods collected from all over Australia.

I really enjoy handcrafting the dowels used in my Wood Art, it’s an unusual expression of colour particularly as each dowel piece in “End Cut” so the graining is highlighted. Wood has so many varied colours, it’s very much like a Painters palette.

Number of Separate Wood Pieces: Approximately: 783 separate pieces of end grain cut wood dowel.

Time to complete: Approximately 6.8 Hours 

Structure: All the separate end grain cut dowel pieces have been enveloped in a quality clear epoxy resin resulting in a solid Artwork.

Frame: I framed this piece in American White Oak ready for hanging. 

Finish: This piece has  been surfaced and fine sanded, then finished  with two coats of quality Fiddes Hard Wax Oil, then finally polished with our Wood Butter, a can of which is included with your purchase.
